About the program
The ULS Digital Learning Lab serves as a vital resource for training and supporting individuals of all ages within our community, equipping them with essential technology skills and access. Many of our constituents lack computer ownership and financial resources for software, often experiencing significant pressures and feelings of helplessness. Annually, an estimated 150 youth, seniors, and adults benefit from the lab.
Additionally, the lab allows community organizations to schedule use of the space for their program offerings, extending its reach and impact beyond ULS initiatives. This program is made possible by the supported of Comcast.
The ULS training programs are scheduled from Monday to Thursday, offering one-hour Intro to Digital Skills classes and bi-weekly intermediate Digital Skills classes. Curriculum development by staff members ensures coverage of essential topics such as mouse and keyboard proficiency, account setup, email usage, digital safety, social media literacy, advanced digital security measures, and useful websites. The lab can comfortably accommodate up to 20 participants per class.
Furthermore, the ULS Digital Learning Lab features a dedicated space for podcast creation, enabling youth participants from the Project Ready programs to address issues pertinent to their age group.
