About the program

The Urban League of Springfield, Inc., Brown Bag Program, is a collaborative initiative with the Western Mass. Food Bank.The program provides over 360 bags each month to seniors 55 years of age or older with low to moderate incomes. The Program provides nutritional food, which enables each senior and their family to acquire the vital nutrition they need to sustain a healthy quality of life. Volunteers transport and distribute as many as 200 bags to various senior housing units.

Economic / Workforce Development

The Urban League of Springfield Inc. has partnered with Urban League of Eastern MA and Interise to develop a state-wide initiative to support small businesses to grow to scale. “NextStage Minority Business Entrepreneur Academy” and "NextStage Accelerator", powered by Interise, is dedicated to scaling minority owned businesses and businesses located in low to moderate income communities.

Food Program at Dunbar

The Urban League of Springfield Monthly Food Distribution in partnership with the Food Bank of Western MA. The distribution is held each 4th Friday at the Dunbar Community Center’s Parking Lot.

Computer Literacy

The ULS Digital Learning Lab serves as a vital resource for training and supporting individuals of all ages within our community, equipping them with essential technology skills and access. Many of our constituents lack computer ownership and financial resources for software, often experiencing significant pressures and feelings of helplessness. Annually, an estimated 150 youth, seniors, and adults benefit from the lab.

Project Ready is a program founded by the National Urban League in 2008. It is designed to prepare African-Americans and other historically underserved youth, grades 8 -12, for college and careers. The program provides youth with a spectrum of supports, services, and opportunities not always found in the classroom.
